Colour Theory
Study of Colour Theory and Application
In my endeavour to recreate the Mona Lisa using acrylic paints on paper, I delved deeply into the study of colour theory. Each pigment choice, including Yellow Ochre, Chrome Yellow, Lime Yellow, Prussian Blue, Crimson Red, Burnt Umber, Burnt Sienna, Cerulean Blue, and White, was carefully considered to ensure an accurate representation of light and shadow. Through this meticulous selection process, I aimed to evoke the nuanced colour palette present in Leonardo da Vinci's original masterpiece. Additionally, as I applied each brushstroke, I paid close attention to the principles of colour theory, exploring concepts such as complementary colours, value, and saturation. This thorough examination allowed me to understand how different hues interacted with one another, ultimately enhancing the depth and vibrancy of my rendition. By immersing myself in the study of colour theory throughout this artistic endeavour, I not only honed my technical skills but also gained a deeper appreciation for the role of colour in visual storytelling.
